About the Role 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Planning & Design Associate to support our New Development team. This junior-level role is ideal for someone early in their career who has a foundational understanding of architecture, design, and market trends and is eager to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced real estate environment. You will work under the guidance of senior leadership to assist in planning, design, research, and coordination of exciting new development projects across New York City.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist senior team members in reviewing and organizing architectural plans and design proposals 
  • Provide input on floorplan layouts to improve space functionality and appeal, under supervision 
  • Annotate and update floorplans with design adjustments and layout refinements as directed 
  • Track revisions and ensure design updates are accurately documented 
  • Conduct research on comparable developments, market trends, and demographic data 
  • Prepare summaries of research findings for internal use and client-facing materials 
  • Coordinate with architects, project managers, and marketing teams to track design feedback and action items 
  • Schedule and support planning and design meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders 
  • Maintain well-organized records of drawings, feedback notes, and consultant materials 
  • Stay informed on basic NYC zoning codes, building regulations, and sustainability guidelines 
  • Participate in team learning opportunities and assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Urban Planning, Real Estate Development, or related field. 
  • 13 years of experience in design, planning, or development support preferred (internships included). 
  • Familiarity with floorplan layouts, architectural drawings, and basic spatial planning concepts. 
  • Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, or SketchUp. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive. 
  • A strong desire to learn and grow within a collaborative, creative, and high-performance environment. 
  • Must be based in NYC and able to attend in-person meetings as required.
